Structure: headed by a chief prosecutor, assisted by a deputy or, as the case may be, by several deputies.
Competencies:
- performs the criminal investigation in cases under its jurisdiction, according to the procedural law;
- leads the criminal investigation in cases handled by the National Anti-corruption Centre;
- represents the prosecution in the first instance and appeal courts
Appointment: First deputy and deputies are appointed by the Attorney General.
Removal: Public prosecutor can be dismissed from the office on the grounds of an order issued by Attorney General.
Budget: The budget of the specialized prosecutor’s office is reflected separately in the budget of the Prosecutor’s Office and is administered by the chief prosecutor of the specialized prosecutor’s office.
