The RAI Secretariat and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (MoU) on the enhancement of whistleblowing policies and culture in Serbia, through activities provided under the EU funded project ‘Breaking the Silence: Enhancing whistleblowing policies and culture in Western Balkans and Moldova’ (hereinafter: the Project) implemented by RAI Secretariat.
RAI Secretariat and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia collaborated closely on the assessment of the compliance of Serbia’s Law on Whistleblower Protection with the 2019 EU Directive on the protection of persons who report breaches of [European] Union law (download the Gap Analysis of Whistleblower Protection Laws in the Western Balkans and Moldova). Under the signed MoU, the continued collaboration of the two organizations will among other things aim at strengthening the institutional capacity of the Ministry to effectively enforce the Law on Whistleblower Protection, as well as inform and educate the public on whistleblowing as a tool in preventing and fighting corruption.
