The 32nd Steering Group Meeting of the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI) was held via teleconference on October 21st, 2020.
With the ambitious Agenda set for this meeting, the Steering Group discussed a number of issues pertaining to the effective functioning of the RAI Secretariat during the challenging period characterized by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among other issues, the Steering Group considered and approved the organization’s budget for 2021, the Evaluation Report for the Work Plan (2018-2020), and discussed the Draft Work Plan for the coming period (2021-2022).
The focus of the first part of the meeting was set on discussing the mandates of the RAI Chairperson and the RAI Secretariat’s core international staff. Following a discussion and exchange of opinions, the mandate of the RAI Chairperson, Ms. Laura Stefan was prolonged for an additional year by the consensus of votes of the Steering Group Members. The Steering Group has also discussed Ms. Stefan’s proposal for the extension of the mandate of the Head of Secretariat. The proposal was accepted by the majority of the SG members, hence Mr. Joksimovic’s mandate was extended until May 1, 2021. Furthermore, the mandate of Ms. Aneta Arnaudovska, the Senior Anti-Corruption Advisor was renewed by consensus.
During the second part of the meeting, the attention was directed to evaluating RAI’s achievements in the past 3-year period, as well as discussion of ongoing and upcoming activities, followed by setting the course for RAI’s strategic focus in the coming bi-annual period. The RAI Steering Group adopted the Evaluation Report for the Work Plan for the period 2018-2020 and discussed the revised draft Work Plan for the coming period (2021-2022). The finalised version of the Work Plan was exchanged by emails following the meeting and was adopted.
