On 28 May 2020, Mr. Vladan Joksimovic, Head of Secretariat and Ms. Aneta Arnaudovska, Senior Anti-corruption Advisor, participated in the Virtual 25th OECD-Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ACN) Steering Group Meeting, which was attended by more than 90 participants.
On this occasion, the Head of Secretariat who congratulated Moldova, the RAI member state, the accession to the ACN, provided an update on the process of signing the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for Verification of Asset Declarations and invited the OECD members and other international organizations participating in this meeting, to continue to work on the promotion of the process of acceding to the Treaty, as a powerful international anti-corruption instrument.
The RAI team also presented its contribution to the development of the ACN anti-corruption performance indicators and benchmarks as a basis for the Istanbul Action Plan peer reviews and regional dialogue. Given that, RAI expressed its readiness to further implement the indicators of its key programmatic activities, which relate, among others, to the digital anti-corruption tools; regional platform for the exchange of data in asset disclosure; asset recovery and financial investigations, promotion of the integrity of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and judiciary through strengthening whistleblowing policies and protection. In parallel, the data and information collected through the peer-review process will complement the RAI platform and will serve as a source of knowledge on good practices, gaps and problems in the states, which are joint RAI and ACN members, and will as well contribute to the development of new indicators, as a living instrument that could be promoted during the other activities and joint events.
In the past, RAI and OECD-ACN intensified mutual cooperation through regular online communication, consultations, exchange of knowledge, resources, experts, promotion, and participation at the OECD webinars, exploring the possibilities for partnerships in the project activities.
