On the margins of the High-Level Berlin Process Side Event – Anti-Corruption and Good Governance in the Western Balkans: Advancing the Path to Integration, the partnership between the Regional Anti-corruption Initiative (RAI) and Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation (HELVETAS) was formally established through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed by Mr. Albert Hani, Director of the RAI Secretariat, and Mr. Matthias Herr, Regional Director for the East and Southeast Europe Programme of Helvetas.
Helvetas is an independent development organization based in Switzerland, with a strong presence in Southeast Europe. The organization works to improve inclusive governance, accountability, and citizen engagement, with a focus on creating equal opportunities for all — particularly for women, youth, and socially excluded groups.
The signing marks a significant step toward strengthening regional cooperation and partnerships between organizations committed to promoting good governance, democratic reforms, and sustainable development in Southeast Europe.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared vision of a just and fair society, where integrity and accountability underpin public trust and sustainable growth. Through this partnership, RAI and Helvetas will work to build synergies, share expertise, and avoid duplication of efforts, ultimately contributing to more transparent, participatory, and corruption-resilient institutions across the region.
