qAID Project Staff Participate in Regional Anti-Corruption Event in Sarajevo

Representatives of the qAID Project participated in a milestone regional event hosted by the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) in Sarajevo on 6th October 2025. The side event, “Anti-corruption and Good Governance in the Western Balkans: Advancing the Path to Integration,” was held under the Berlin Process framework and focused on strengthening integrity and anti-corruption systems across the Western Balkans. It brought together ministers, experts, international partners, and representatives from civil society to share experiences and promote innovative tools for enhanced transparency and accountability.

Discussions highlighted that corruption undermines not only economies but also regional stability, security, and citizens’ trust. Participants emphasized the importance of political will, inter-institutional cooperation, and data-driven approaches to strengthening integrity systems. The event also marked a milestone with the recognition of the International Treaty on Data Exchange for the Verification of Asset Declarations, and the preparation of a Regional Asset Sharing Agreement as key steps toward greater transparency and accountability.

The event’s conclusions closely align with the strategic objectives of the qAID Project, which seeks to:

  • Develop methods to measure the impact of asset and interest disclosure (AID) systems;
  • Promote best practices and digital risk analysis tools;
  • Strengthen the capacity of anti-corruption institutions in EU Member States and Candidate States.

Participation in the Sarajevo event provided the qAID team with an opportunity to exchange knowledge, present ongoing work, and strengthen partnerships with regional and international stakeholders. By combining EU-wide innovation with regional collaboration, qAID contributes to building more transparent, resilient, and effective AID systems that support the Western Balkans’ path toward integrity and European integration.
