Disrupting organised crime requires more than enforcement, it requires dismantling criminal economies by effectively tracing, seizing and managing illicit assets. Achieving this goal depends on robust cross-border coordination and strong inter-agency cooperation throughout the asset recovery chain.
On 12–13 February, the JUST-SHARE (Judicial Synergies for Transnational Seizure, Harmonised Asset Recovery and Enforcement) project was officially launched at the headquarters of Fondazione SAFE – Security and Freedom for Europe in Soave, Italy. The kick-off meeting brought together the project consortium and marked the beginning of a joint effort to strengthen judicial cooperation in asset recovery across Europe.
Funded under the EU Justice Programme, JUST-SHARE promotes an innovative and systemic approach by mapping the full asset recovery cycle, from investigation and seizure to confiscation and asset management. The project aims to enhance mutual understanding among key stakeholders and improve the application of EU mutual recognition instruments through targeted training, capacity-building and networking activities.
The Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) is proud to contribute to this collaborative endeavour alongside distinguished partners. RAI was represented in Soave by Slađana Cvijanović, Chief Programme and Vesna Latić, Communication Officer. By fostering dialogue, facilitating knowledge exchange and supporting regional engagement, RAI continues to advance its commitment to stronger institutional cooperation, the rule of law and effective responses to organised crime and corruption.
Coordinated by Fondazione SAFE, the project will deliver strategic guidance, practical tools and evidence-based recommendations to support effective inter-agency judicial cooperation in asset recovery cases. Over the coming months, JUST-SHARE will contribute to stronger transnational collaboration while promoting fundamental rights and shared European values.
Project partners: Fondazione SAFE, Center for the Study of Democracy, The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria.
