The annual summit of the Western Balkans was held in Trieste on July 12 and was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy. The summit included the participation of representatives from six Balkan governments – Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo*, Macedona, Albania – and the EU member states, including Italy, the EU High Representative for Foreign policy and common Security, Federica Mogherini, and major international financial institutions such as the EBRD and the EIB.

Among the central themes of the summit, early announced, there were growth, security and rule of law, the strengthening of small and medium-sized enterprises and cooperation in the fight against corruption.
