The Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) proudly marks its 25th anniversary, celebrating a quarter century of partnership, innovation, and unwavering commitment to strengthening integrity across South East Europe. Since its establishment, RAI has grown into a regional leader in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance, turning cooperation into measurable results that benefit institutions and citizens alike.
Over the past 25 years, RAI has brought together thousands of practitioners, public institutions, civil society representatives, and international partners. Through 300+ capacity-building events, 11 regional projects, and groundbreaking tools such as corruption proofing methodologies and digital risk assessment systems, RAI has consistently pushed boundaries and inspired new standards of integrity in the region.
A landmark achievement celebrated this year is the International Treaty on Exchange of Data for Verification of Asset Declarations, a pioneering mechanism that reflects the region’s commitment to cross-border cooperation and proactive corruption prevention.
As RAI looks ahead, the focus remains on expanding digital tools, empowering youth, advancing asset recovery cooperation, and strengthening inclusive governance through partnerships with civil society and the private sector.
To reflect on this journey, and to look forward to the next decade of transformation, RAI has prepared a short anniversary report highlighting key milestones, achievements, and future priorities.
