Mr. Nikola Naumovski, Senior Anti-Corruption Advisor at RAI, took part in the Workshop on Integrity and Anti-corruption organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Belgrade on 13th June. The workshop commenced with opening remarks by Austrian Ambassador, H. E. Mag. Christian Ebner.
Participants from the Western Balkans region had the opportunity to listen to presentations by experts such as Ms. Rozana Mancellari from World Vision MEER, who discussed corruption as a cultural, endemic, and systematic issue, and shared best practices in combating it. Ms. Maria-Elisabeth Wanke-Czerwenka from the Court of Appeal Vienna provided insights into the Austrian judiciary and its approach to anti-corruption efforts.
The workshop also highlighted the work of RAI as an international organization focused on enhancing regional cooperation, particularly through the International Treaty on the exchange of data for verifying asset declarations. The discussion among participants, particularly regarding the potential of the Treaty to check the assets of officials abroad, was very productive.
In conclusion, the Workshop on Integrity and Anti-corruption was deemed a success, as it brought together participants from the Western Balkans to exchange experiences and best practices in the fight against corruption.
