On October 11-13, 2022, in Dubrovnik, Croatia, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in cooperation with RAI and with generous support from the UK Government, organized the regional meeting on Regional Anti-corruption and Illicit Finance (ACIF) Roadmap for Western Balkans jurisdictions. The event is aimed at taking stock of the achievements to date under the three goals of the Roadmap and discussing the way forward

The event represents an opportunity to ascertain and check-analysis the outstanding anti-corruption, and illicit finance flows priorities on the local and regional level and to potentially identify further action steps in line with ACIF Roadmap. During the event, delegations from the Western Balkans jurisdictions presented the recent developments and potential gaps to be addressed in the Roadmap implementation process.

The Head of RAI Secretariat, Mrs. Desislava Gotskova, made opening remarks at the beginning of the event, mentioning the importance of the AC IF Roadmap for the Western Balkan jurisdictions and the role of RAI as a regional intergovernmental organization with a clear anti-corruption mandate, being active in the WB region for more than 20 years. Mrs. Desislava Gotskova also mentioned that RAI acknowledges the efforts, the challenges, and the progress made by all WB6 jurisdictions in their endeavours to implement the specific three specific goals of the Roadmap, in line with UNCAC provisions and relevant GRECO recommendations, expressing the willingness of continuing the joint efforts in close cooperation with UNODC and Western Balkans jurisdictions’ authorities that it would result in the delivery of tangible improvements for overcoming the current issues which arise in the process of implementation of the existing anti-corruption measures.
