Bulgaria: Prosecutor’s office takes measures to protect witness in investigation against Zhivko Martinov

A witness in the case against Zhivko Martinov has been placed under police protection by order of the Special Prosecutor’s Office. The witness and his family will be guarded 24 hours a day, as there are reasons to believe that they are under threat in connection with his testimony, the Prosecutor’s Office said. The protection was requested by the witness himself.

Another witness in the case turned down the offered protection. Pre-trial proceedings against Zhivko Martinov are at their final stage and the case will be brought to court in the short term, the prosecutor’s office said.
